abstractNote={This article provides some preliminary results of an ongoing study on scientific collaboration in the European Union (EU) in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS). The analysis is based on the production of the period 2010-2014 indexed by Scopus. It was considered necessary to have a longitudinal view as well. For this reason,
the production between the years 1990-2014 of 15 journals belonging to the core of the discipline was exploited. The results show that there is not a clear dominance of a single area of knowledge,
neither a particularly significant presence of the classic LIS departments. In the Italian case is noted that only a small percentage corresponds to departments related to the world of libraries and non-IT aspects of the treatment of documentation and information. For the group of EU countries the degree of cooperation is low,
being mostly national or even non-EU,
and the intra-Community collaboration being reduced to a mere 6.1% of the total. However,
the percentages of collaboration – both global and intra-Comunity – do improve when the Italian case is considered.},
